In less than 1 month my sweet little baby boy will turn 2 years old!! I can't describe how exciting it is to watch him learn, grow and change...it seriously seems like time has been in super speed since he was born. He is so smart, outgoing and has a sweet, loving heart. Although he can throw a mean tantrum if he wants to and as Mrs. Barb, his teacher, says "he has a little temper sometimes."
Last week wasn't the greatest week for Grant. He got Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease again and it was really bad. He had little bumps covering most of his body except his belly and back and had blisters on his hands, feet and in his mouth. He never ran a fever and started feeling better by the end of the week. He still has a few blisters that are healing up, but otherwise is back to normal and has been back at daycare this week. Luckily, MaMaw was able to help us out and stay with him most of last week! It turns out that half of his class was out sick last week.
So Grant now has a potty that he used for the first time on Sunday. It sings to you when you pee in it:) We have got to hear it sing twice so far. We aren't really pushing potty training yet and just want to let him get used to the potty right now. He usually will sit on it before bath time and sometimes once during the day.
On Thursday when I went to get him up for his nap, as soon as I walked in his room he jumped up on the top of his crib rail and was straddling it and holding on to it like he was riding a horse! That night we ordered the toddler rail for his crib and will be coverting his crib as soon as it comes. It amazed me how easily he got up on top of the rail and if I hadn't come in when I did...he would have probably been on the floor.
He has also started drinking some out of a regular "big boy" cup. He can actually take his cup and get water out of the water filter on the refrigerator door by himself. And he is so proud of himself when he does it! More and more he says that he wants to do things "all by myself, Mommy."
He definitely wants to be more and more independent and likes to help out whenever he can. Tonight, Brandon was working on our TV because we couldn't get it to turn on. Grant came in and said, "Daddy, I fix the TV." He ran into the front room and got his new toolbox and came running back in yelling "I fix the TV! I fix the TV!" It was seriously the cutest thing!
He is saying 5-6 word sentences now and we are truly amazed every day with some of the things he says and picks up on. I love being able to sit down and somewhat have a conversation with him now!
Grant always wants to be just like his Dad:)
