My First Haircut!

So we took Grant to get his first haircut this afternoon.  I really didn't want to get his hair cut, but his bangs were staying in his eyes so we decided to go ahead and get it cut.  We were really nervous about it since Grant never sits still, but he did great!  I think he was just interested in looking at everything and sat on Brandon's lap and she cut it in less than 10 mins.  He looks so much older now!!!  I look at him and see a toddler instead of my little baby boy...which makes me both happy and sad.  It's exciting, but really difficult to see your little baby grow up!

Events of the Week

So we have had a pretty busy week.  Brandon worked in Raleigh for part of the week, so Grant and I were on our own.  Grant really does miss his Dad when he is gone and gets so excited when he comes home (and so does Mom)!

Grant didn't sleep very good last weekend so I took him to the doctor on Monday afternoon because I thought he may have an ear infection.  Luckily, he did not and his doctor thought his not sleeping well and fussiness was related to teething.  He has started feeling better as the week has gone on, but I know teething difficulties are something we are probably going to have to deal with for a while.  BTW...he weighed 24 lbs 2 ozs at the doctor!  He was fully clothed, but I couldn't believe he already weighs that much...he is such a growing boy!

Grant also got invited to his first birthday party from a daycare friend.  One of his friends, Tucker, is turning 2 :)

Some of Grant's new favorite things that he has started loving to do in the past couple weeks are clapping, putting his hand over his mouth and making the "OhOhOh" Indian nose, and he has become totally obsessed with doors.  He constantly wants to open and close any door...bedroom doors, closet doors, cabinet doors, etc.  He is also getting better with standing without holding onto anything.

Some of Grant's new words that he has learned over the past few weeks are:
duck (and can sort of say quack)
hat
bobble for bottle
turkey
baby
"Shhhh"
"Weeeee"
mo for more
truck
no- he has started saying "no" a lot in the past few days
GiGi

Grant also ate his first real banana (that wasn't baby food) this week.  He loved it!  He really loves any kind of fruit.  Here are some pics from the occasion :)

Easter Fun!

Grant had a great first Easter!  He got a visit from the Easter bunny and got fun Easter presents from Mom and Dad, MiMi and PawPaw, MaMaw and PaPaw and Mrs. Mary at daycare.  Easter Sunday was very busy, but it was great visiting with all of our families.  Grant got to see a lot of his aunts, uncles and cousins that he doesn't get to see often.  We were all exhausted by the end of the day, but couldn't have asked for a better first Easter for Grant :)

Check out what the Easter bunny brought me

I bought Grant this new ball cap and it is one of his favorite things to wear :)

Having Fun with Hannah!

On Saturday evening, all of my family came over to visit and so Grant and Hannah could dye Easter eggs together.  It turned out that Kelli, Mary Ellen and I did most of the Easter egg dyeing, but Grant and Hannah did help with decorating :)  They absolutely had sooo much fun playing together!  It is so fun to see them at an age now where they can really play together.  Grant loves his cousin Hannah and wants to do everything that she does!  If Hannah has a snack, Grant wants a snack.  If Hannah is drinking from her sippy cup, Grant wants his too.  They literally chased each other around the house...Hannah running and Grant crawling as fast as he could after her.  He also was trying his best to walk like Hannah was doing.  We really had a great time and were all exhausted by the end of the night!  Unfortunately, Brandon had to work and missed out on the festivities :(  I think these two are going to grow up to be great friends!

Grant and Hannah had to ride in the wagon inside because it was so windy.  Grant loved it!

Sweet Cousins!

Hannah brought Grant this new toy to play with.  This morning he walked pushing it by himself for the first time!

11 months!!

11 months old...only 1 short month until the big ONE!!  The best way I can describe Grant at this age is that he is ALWAYS on the go!!  He has more energy than you could imagine and he is always busy, busy, busy doing something!

He is getting so close to walking, but still hasn't taken a step without holding on to something.  He can stand alone for a short time before falling.  I really can't imagine how tired I am going to be once he is walking!

He continues to talk more and more and amazes us everyday with the things he says. He is imitating so much of what we say now.  He will pretty consistently wave and say "bye bye" and calls me "mama" and Brandon "dada."  He also is consistent with saying "ball" and "uh oh."

We are down to 4 bottles a day now.  He eats food 3 times a day and snacks 2-3 times a day.  He is really growing and is in 12 month and some 18 month clothes and size 4 shoes.  His hair is also getting pretty long and I think we are going to have to get a hair cut soon.  For some reason, I don't want him to get his hair cut, but it is starting to get in his eyes so I guess we're going to have to do it.

He loves going to daycare and gets so excited when he is dropped off in the morning.  He loves his teachers and all of his friends there and I finally don't feel guilty about him going to daycare.  I really do think he enjoys it and is learning a lot from the other kids.

I really can't believe that this time next month, I will be mom to a 1 year old!  Wow, this year has flown by!

Can't get enough of...

swinging and playing with Dad's ball caps!!  Grant would stay outside all of the time if he could :)  He looks like such a big boy sitting in the swing!

He also loves, loves, loves ball caps!  We have decided to do a baseball theme for his first birthday since he loves ball caps so much and playing ball.  I have been in full swing party planning mode and have been doing way too much online shopping!

Check out those teeth :)

Sweet and Peaceful

This is how I found Grant when I went into his room this morning...he looked so sweet, calm and peaceful.  He is always on the move, so moments like these are rare.  I watched him sleep for a little while and thought about how much he had changed and how much my life had changed in 10 1/2 short months.  I still can't believe how fast the past year has gone.  Although he may be a handful sometimes, I know that I am truly blessed to be a mom to this little man.

It didn't take long and those sweet eyes were open :)
