Happy Thanksgiving!

I have so many things to be thankful for this thanksgiving! I am so thankful to have a happy and healthy child, a wonderful husband that is an awesome dad and a great family that are always so supportive. Even though things can get really busy and I basically live off of coffee these days...I truly am blessed and not a day goes by that I don't realize how lucky I am to have this life.

Grant had a great first thanksgiving! We spent lots of time with my family and Brandon's family and Grant got to see some of his aunts, uncles, and cousins that he doesn't get to see very much. He did great with the traveling and visiting and was exhausted by the time we got back home on Thursday night. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better first thanksgiving for Grant.

We are now in full swing Christmas mode in McAdenville :) We did lots of decorating this weekend and got our Christmas tree up and decorated. Grant loves looking at the decorations and all of the lights! The McAdenville lights will be officially turned on on Wednesday night. I have to say that I love Christmas time and it is going to be even more special this year...experiencing everything for the first time with Grant! I can't wait to take him to sit on Santa's lap and for a stroll around McAdenville to see all of the lights!

Happy Birthday Paw Paw!

All of my family came over on Saturday night for a birthday party for Paw Paw. We had lots of fun and got a little highlight of what Christmas is going to be like this year with Grant and Hannah. They were both very interested in the gifts...mostly the tissue paper. I know that Christmas is going to be an experience this year! Anyway, Paw Paw turned 55 and everyone had a great time!

Play Date with Lila

On Friday night, the Powells came over to hang out. We ate pizza, got caught up on things since we haven't had a chance to get together in a few weeks and Grant and Lila played together. They were so cute together! They are about the same size now and were very interested in one another. They had a little chat in baby talk. These two are going to have so much fun together as they grow up! It's so nice to have such close friends who are experiencing all of the craziness of parenthood at the same time as us :)

6 months!

6 months old today...I just can't believe he is already 6 months old. I know I say that each month he gets older, but I REALLY can't believe Grant is 6 months old! He is getting to be such a big boy. I have been looking back at his pictures when he was a baby and 1-2 months old and he has changed so much. One thing that has changed is his hair color. It was dark brown when he was born, but now is getting lighter and lighter and has a hint of red. He still has bright blue eyes. I know I am a little bias, but he has one of the sweetest smiles that I have ever seen and I absolutely love his laugh! All of his daycare teachers talk about how he is such a happy and smiley baby. Don't get me wrong, he still has his bouts of crying, but it is much less now. He really only cries when he is really hungry or really sleepy.

He is around 18 lbs now. We go for his 6 month check up in 2 weeks so we will find out his exact weight. He is wearing 6-9 month clothing and size 2-3 diapers. He still eats about 35 ozs. a day and has done well this weekend with starting rice cereal.

He loves rolling around on the floor and can stand straight up in his ExerSaucer. He also loves to stick his tongue out as you can see in some of the pictures below. He is getting more interested in books and loves singing songs with Mom and Dad.

Our sweet little man is growing up so fast and I know it won't be long before he is crawling and we are baby proofing everything. I love watching him reach milestones, but I would be ok with time slowing down just a little...

Rice Cereal, Please!

Grant ate his first solid food last night! He did really well and seemed to enjoy the rice cereal :) We have been watching him so closely because we are afraid he is going to have an allergic reaction, but so far so good! He has always been a good eater and he ate almost 2 tablespoons last night! I can't believe he is going to be 6 months old tomorrow...I can't say enough how much I love my sweet little man! He has truly changed everything in our lives and I know we have so many more fun times to come!

Camo Baby

Brandon really wanted Grant to have these camouflage pajamas...he looks pretty cute when he wears them especially with the band on too. As you can see we decided not to decorate his band. We just couldn't make a decision on what we wanted to put on it so we decided to just go with white. He has been doing great with the band! He only has 2-3 weeks left!

Lil' Kid Super Powers

Grant has this shirt that says "Lil' Kid Super Powers" that cracks me up every time I put it on him :) His latest "super power" is sitting up. He is doing better sitting up on his own, but still likes to push back sometimes when sitting. He is also rolling like crazy. He rolled 5 complete rolls across the floor in his room (multiple times) the other night. Basically as soon as we lay him down now, he starts rolling. He also only sleeps on his side or his tummy now. We put him down in his crib on his back at night, but it doesn't take long and over he goes. It is awesome to watch him reach these milestones!

Sitting High

On Halloween weekend we also got out Grant's highchair to let him get used to sitting in it. He loved it! We are going to start him on solid foods this weekend. Our pediatrician wanted us to wait until he was 6 months old to start solid foods because of his milk protein allergy. I can't believe he is almost 6 months! We are all excited about him finally getting to start solids this weekend :)

Halloween Weekend

Ok, so I am way behind with posting...I have been so busy and haven't had a spare second to post. Anyway, we had a great Halloween weekend! We got visits from all of the grandparents and Aunt Mary Ellen. Grant dressed up like a dinosaur on Sunday night and helped give out candy. We gave out 16 bags of candy between Saturday and Sunday nights and had to turn the lights off early both nights!!! You would not believe the number of trick-or-treators that we had! We all had a great time and Grant had fun dressing up for his first Halloween :)
