Christmas at GiGi's

On Sunday night, we went over to my Grandmother's house for Christmas with my Mom's family. It was Grant's first Christmas experience and he really had a great time! He just looked around at everyone and all of the gifts and was pretty interested in opening presents. Of course, he loved the tissue paper the best :) Unfortunately, Brandon was sick with a stomach virus and wasn't able to come, but thankfully he is feeling better now and Grant and I have not gotten sick. I really don't want Grant to be sick on Christmas! Anyway, Grandmother had cooked so much food...it was all really good and we had so much fun visiting and playing! It was a great way to start Christmas week! Luckily, I am off work this entire week and have really enjoyed spending some quality time with my little man!

7 months!

Ok, so I am really behind with my postings...I have been so busy with work, getting ready for Christmas and taking care of my sweet little man :) It is hard to believe that he is 7 months old now! The most exciting thing that has happened since he turned 7 months old is that Grant says "Dada" now. He said it for the first time last Thursday. Brandon and I were both home and heard him...we both yelled in excitement and Grant started crying. I was worried he would never say it again, but luckily he has. He says it almost every day now. He is babbling so much more!

Grant is also really on the verge of crawling. He does this thing where he sort of pulls himself across the floor using his elbows and legs. It is funny to watch. He is still rolling like crazy and can pretty much get to whatever he wants. He really never stays still. His daycare teacher calls him a "little explorer."

He has now eaten carrots, sweet potatoes and squash and is doing really well with eating baby food. We are going to be trying green beans and peas next...yum yum.

He sat on Santa's lap a few weeks ago. He didn't really know what to think. He didn't cry, but he didn't seem to enjoy it either. I think he was really confused about what was going on, but we got the picture and the Santa experience for the first time.

We are all excited about Grant's first Christmas and are hoping he does well with all of the visiting and traveling. I know this is going to be my best Christmas yet :)

Crazy for Carrots!

Grant ate his first baby food on Thursday...Carrots. He wasn't sure what to think to begin with and then he decided he liked them. He ate the entire container. He has always been a really good eater and never pushes away food...I guess that is going to carry through with baby food also :) He is now eating cereal in the morning and at his 6:00 feeding and is having a vegetable for lunch, along with his normal 5-6 bottles a day. Our little guy loves to eat and is a growing boy!! Anyway, we are going to try sweet potatoes next...hopefully with the same good results!

Busy Week

We have had a busy week this week. Grant finished his Doc band treatment this week! We had our final appointment on Wednesday and everything looked good so he is done wearing the band. All of his head measurements were good and we have been really happy with the results.

Grant also had his 6 month well check on Thursday. It went really well! Grant weighed 19 lbs 2 ozs and is 27 1/2 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile for his weight, height and head measurements. He is right on track with everything and even did well with the 4 shots that he had to get.

He is continuing to do well with eating cereal. We are going to do one more week on just cereal and then start adding in vegetables. He has started getting into the crawling position this week. He hasn't figured out how to move forward yet, but I know he will get it soon :) He has also started doing better with naps. We are finally getting to where we can just lay him in his crib and pat his back and he will go to sleep instead of us always bouncing or rocking him, which has been amazing!

I have to say that 6 months has been my favorite age so far. He really has his own personality now and is learning new things so quickly! He just smiles and laughs all the time...I really can't say enough how much I love this little guy!

This smile cracks me up!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have so many things to be thankful for this thanksgiving! I am so thankful to have a happy and healthy child, a wonderful husband that is an awesome dad and a great family that are always so supportive. Even though things can get really busy and I basically live off of coffee these days...I truly am blessed and not a day goes by that I don't realize how lucky I am to have this life.

Grant had a great first thanksgiving! We spent lots of time with my family and Brandon's family and Grant got to see some of his aunts, uncles, and cousins that he doesn't get to see very much. He did great with the traveling and visiting and was exhausted by the time we got back home on Thursday night. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better first thanksgiving for Grant.

We are now in full swing Christmas mode in McAdenville :) We did lots of decorating this weekend and got our Christmas tree up and decorated. Grant loves looking at the decorations and all of the lights! The McAdenville lights will be officially turned on on Wednesday night. I have to say that I love Christmas time and it is going to be even more special this year...experiencing everything for the first time with Grant! I can't wait to take him to sit on Santa's lap and for a stroll around McAdenville to see all of the lights!

Happy Birthday Paw Paw!

All of my family came over on Saturday night for a birthday party for Paw Paw. We had lots of fun and got a little highlight of what Christmas is going to be like this year with Grant and Hannah. They were both very interested in the gifts...mostly the tissue paper. I know that Christmas is going to be an experience this year! Anyway, Paw Paw turned 55 and everyone had a great time!

Play Date with Lila

On Friday night, the Powells came over to hang out. We ate pizza, got caught up on things since we haven't had a chance to get together in a few weeks and Grant and Lila played together. They were so cute together! They are about the same size now and were very interested in one another. They had a little chat in baby talk. These two are going to have so much fun together as they grow up! It's so nice to have such close friends who are experiencing all of the craziness of parenthood at the same time as us :)

6 months!

6 months old today...I just can't believe he is already 6 months old. I know I say that each month he gets older, but I REALLY can't believe Grant is 6 months old! He is getting to be such a big boy. I have been looking back at his pictures when he was a baby and 1-2 months old and he has changed so much. One thing that has changed is his hair color. It was dark brown when he was born, but now is getting lighter and lighter and has a hint of red. He still has bright blue eyes. I know I am a little bias, but he has one of the sweetest smiles that I have ever seen and I absolutely love his laugh! All of his daycare teachers talk about how he is such a happy and smiley baby. Don't get me wrong, he still has his bouts of crying, but it is much less now. He really only cries when he is really hungry or really sleepy.

He is around 18 lbs now. We go for his 6 month check up in 2 weeks so we will find out his exact weight. He is wearing 6-9 month clothing and size 2-3 diapers. He still eats about 35 ozs. a day and has done well this weekend with starting rice cereal.

He loves rolling around on the floor and can stand straight up in his ExerSaucer. He also loves to stick his tongue out as you can see in some of the pictures below. He is getting more interested in books and loves singing songs with Mom and Dad.

Our sweet little man is growing up so fast and I know it won't be long before he is crawling and we are baby proofing everything. I love watching him reach milestones, but I would be ok with time slowing down just a little...

Rice Cereal, Please!

Grant ate his first solid food last night! He did really well and seemed to enjoy the rice cereal :) We have been watching him so closely because we are afraid he is going to have an allergic reaction, but so far so good! He has always been a good eater and he ate almost 2 tablespoons last night! I can't believe he is going to be 6 months old tomorrow...I can't say enough how much I love my sweet little man! He has truly changed everything in our lives and I know we have so many more fun times to come!
