Happy July 4th!

Brandon and I were off work for a long weekend for July 4th. We had planned to go to the lake on Friday, but Colton started running a fever on Wednesday evening and was fighting a cold. He ended up having another ear infection:( We are going to be taking him to an ENT physician soon to discuss tubes. He started feeling better on Friday afternoon so we went to the July 4th celebration at Stowe Park in Belmont. They had inflatable slides and a bounce house that Grant loved. Colton and I came back home and Brandon and Grant went to see fireworks in Gastonia. Grant absolutely loved that!

On Saturday, we went to the lake for the day. Grant couldn't have had more fun swimming and fishing! We were able to find a beach on the lake and Grant and Hannah had the best time in the water. In the past, Grant hasn't been the biggest fan of swimming in the lake, but we could hardly get him out yesterday:) Colton had fun too except he absolutely hated wearing his life jacket on the boat. Grant caught 2 fish and he was super excited about that. We also celebrated my birthday with my family. It was a really fun day and we were all exhausted by the time we got home last night!

So thankful for this family!

1 and 4 year well checks

On Tuesday, Colton and Grant had their 1 and 4 year well checks. We scheduled them together and that worked pretty well. We absolutely love their pediatrician, Dr. Owensby. She is always so willing to answer all of my questions and really makes us feel at ease. They did both have to get 2 shots each, but other than that, the appointment went great. Grant doesn't have to get any more shots until he is 11 years old (which seems so old!!) so that is really nice.

Colton weighed 22 lbs. 1 oz. and was 30 in. tall (both in the 50th percentile). Grant weighed 44 lbs 2 oz. (exactly double of Colton!) and was 43 in. tall. He was in the 95th percentile for both and his BMI was right where it should be for comparing his height and weight. She told Grant that if he kept on this track, he would be taller than his Daddy one day and he really liked that. Now, he tells everyone that he is going to be taller than his Daddy:)

Everything checked out great physically and developmentally and I couldn't be more thankful for my 2 healthy and happy boys!!

I feel like Colton has really started growing up even more in the last month. He is completely done with bottles. He is turning into a good eater like his brother and loves fruits and vegetables (and snacks), just like Grant. He loves for Grant to chase him around and he walks so fast now, that he can almost run:) He is getting more teeth. He is talking so much more and says things like:
Wawa- water
mo- more
no
mama
dada
rock rock- when he is rocking on the rocking horse at school
mine
ball
uh oh- when he drops something

These are a few pictures from Hannah and Sophie's birthday party last weekend. They had a slip 'n slide set up and it was hilarious to see Colton play on it! He doesn't hesitate about a lot and you can definitely tell he has an older brother. I think he thinks he is much older than he really is:)

Trophy time!

Grant's t-ball team had a pizza party at the park yesterday to celebrate their t-ball season and to get their trophy. Grant had so much fun playing t-ball and it was especially fun that he had some of his school friends on his team! He learned more about team sports, made new friends and really did improve with his baseball skills. It was lots of fun for Brandon to help out at the games and practices and for us to cheer Grant on at his games! Grant was super excited to get another trophy to add to his collection! We are looking forward to starting swim lessons soon and soccer in the fall:)

Happy Father's Day!

Last Sunday, the boys and I had fun wishing their dad a Happy Father's Day! We were able to spend the day together as a family, which was great especially since Brandon and I have both been so busy with work recently. We took a family trip to the Schiele Museum and the boys really enjoyed that! PaPaw and MaMaw came to Grant's last t-ball game on Saturday and the boys were able to wish PaPaw a Happy Father's day on Saturday. Overall, it was a nice weekend:)
Happy Father's Day to an amazing dad and husband! I appreciate so much everything you do for the boys and for me and I am so proud and thankful for the family that we have created together!
Miss you so much Daddy every single day, but especially on days like Father's day. Love you so much and try to take comfort in knowing that you are our guardian angel now.

T-ball picture day

Grant had his t-ball pictures this past Saturday and a game. He has two more games left this season and he has absolutely loved t-ball! He really has improved with hitting the ball off the tee and catching "ground" balls. Most importantly he has had lots of fun with his friends, made some new friends and learned more about team sports. It has also been a fun activity that we have been able to do as a family:)
All smiles:)
Family fun!

Get On Board!

On Thursday night, Grant had his graduation program at school. The theme was "Get on Board" and everything was related to trains. The 2 and 3 year classes were dressed like train conductors and the 4 year olds wore there cap and gown. They sang songs about trains and even had a real train conductor blow his train whistle and lead them all in to the sanctuary. It was seriously the cutest thing and of course I cried through the entire thing!

The teachers did such an awesome job getting everything prepared! The parents didn't see the train conductor outfits until that night and that was a really fun surprise! They have been practicing their songs for months. Grant loves singing and music and we have loved hearing him practice his songs at home.

All of the kids did a great job! The 4 year olds sang the song "Breakaway" at the end and I don't think there was a dry eye in the place! I have to say that I am so glad that Grant has another year...I'm not sure I will be able to handle it when he is the one up there in his white cap and gown! He will start the 4 year old preschool class in August and is super excited about that, especially because that class goes on field trips:)

It really is hard to believe that he is 4! I am so proud of everything he has learned this year and the young man that he is becoming! I couldn't be more thankful for the amazing school that they attend and all of their wonderful teachers!
Getting ready to go:)
