On The Move!

MaMaw (Brandon's mom) usually stays with Grant one day a week. He loves getting all of the attention and spending the day with her each week. This week she stayed with him on Wednesday. When I got home, they both had some fun news to share. Grant had started crawling on his hands and knees during the day! So, we officially have a little crawler now! He still does the belly crawl if he is trying to get to something fast, but is getting more consistent with crawling on his hands and knees.

He also started pulling up this week and pulled up by himself on Saturday. He pulled up onto the recliner in his room and is trying to pull up in his crib.

We have been trying to teach Grant simple gestures like waving "bye-bye" and blowing a kiss. This week he started waving "bye-bye." He's definitely not doing it consistently and probably doesn't know what it means, but he does imitate our hand motion when we wave to him :)

He also says "mama" now. Definitely not as much as he says "dada" or "baba" and he seems to do it when he is crying or upset. He seriously babbles all of the time now and it is so fun to listen to him!

So, overall this has been a busy week for our little man. Turning 8 months old has brought lots of fun changes! I can't say enough how amazing it is to watch Grant learn and grow :)

8 months old!

Grant turned 8 months old on Friday and he is literally growing and changing by the minute! You'll notice in the pictures that he is getting more and more hair and it is really growing over his ears now :) He sits unsupported without any problem. He has mastered the belly crawl and can crawl backwards, but still hasn't figured out how to crawl forward on his hands and knees. That hasn't stopped him in getting to whatever he wants...as I said, he has mastered the belly crawl. He has tons of toys to play with, but his favorite things to play with have now become the trash can, drawers on his changing table, the diaper champ and any cord he can find. It is amazing how quickly he can get to something that he is not suppose to have. Baby proofing is about to be in full swing!

He is definitely a growing boy! He drinks 28-32 ozs a day and is eating 3 times a day, a combination of cereal/oatmeal, fruits and vegetables. He loves any kind of fruit! He is wearing mostly 9 month clothes and some 12 month clothes and is in size 3 diapers. He has been doing good sleeping through the night (now that he isn't sick) and naps pretty well.

He loves watching and playing with the other kids at daycare and really seems to be the center of attention while he is there!

He babbles all of the time and his favorite thing to say is "dada." He hasn't mastered "mama" yet but has said "ma" a few times.

He is my sweet, happy little man and I love him more than I can say!

He can't get enough of the diaper champ...

My Little Red Snow Bunny

Grant and I had a snow day today. Grant saw it snow on Christmas, but he hadn't been outside in the snow yet. He was amazed at watching it snow looking through the window so I decided we needed to go outside and play in the snow for a little while. I bundled him up in multiple layers of clothes (which all ended up being red) from head to toe and outside we went. He loved sitting and watching it snow. I think he actually liked it more sitting on the swing instead of being out in the snow. I put down some plastic for him to sit on and he basically looked around in amazement. It was pretty cute to watch :)

Happy New Year!

I can't believe it is already 2011! 2010 brought lots of changes in my life and I can't wait to see what 2011 will bring! Grant has grown and changed so much in the past 7 1/2 months and truly is the joy of my life. I really can't even remember what my life was like without him (except for the fact that I wasn't as tired!). Anyway, we have had a relaxing New Year's Day. Grant has played with his new toys most of the day. He also ate fruit for the first time today...pears and he loved them! Brandon and I went out to eat last night at Red Rocks, which is our New Year's Eve tradition. We have been going there for the past 5 years on New Year's eve. Brandon proposed exactly 5 years ago today. It is hard to believe how things have changed in the last 5 years! I can only hope that the next 5 years will be as great as the last 5!

One last Christmas picture...

Christmas Morning

Toys! Toys! Toys! That is how I will describe Grant's first Christmas! He seriously got so many toys! We had a great time at PawPaw and MiMi's house on Christmas morning! Hannah got a playhouse from Santa and Grant and Hannah had a great time playing in it. We opened presents for hours on Christmas morning and Grant and Hannah got so many fun things :)

Unfortunately Grant did wake up with a runny nose on Christmas and he still has a cold now. We also had a white Christmas for the first time in many years. Normally I would be excited about a white Christmas, but having snow on Christmas means Dad has to go to work, which is not so much fun. Luckily, Brandon didn't have to go in on Christmas day, but he did have to work all day the day after Christmas. Grant and I watched it snow while Dad was at work and spent the day playing with all of his new toys!

Christmas Eve Fun!

Grant's first Christmas...it is finally here!! We had been getting ready for Christmas for weeks now and were super excited that it was finally Christmas eve! I have to say that Brandon and I were a little anxious about Christmas because we knew it would be a very busy 2 days and that it would be difficult to keep Grant on his schedule. We definitely did have a busy 2 days, but everyone had a great Christmas!

On Christmas eve, we went to the Martin's and to see Granny Harris and all of my Dad's family. Grant got lots of fun toys and really enjoyed seeing everyone and opening gifts. He was of course the center of attention and I think he loved it!

Santa (or my Dad dressed up like Santa) made a surprise visit to Granny's house to see Grant and Hannah. As you can see in the picture below, Grant was not very excited about Santa and Hannah and Grant actually both cried when they saw him. Maybe next year Santa won't be so scary :)

We all spent the night at my parents house on Christmas eve and got up to a house full of presents on Christmas morning!

Grant is still so close to crawling...
