Two Months Old!

Grant turned two months old today! I honestly can't believe how fast time has flown by since he has been born. He has grown and changed so much in the past 2 months and I can't imagine my life without him! He had his 2 month check up today also. It went well other than he had to get 3 shots! It was so hard to watch and Brandon and I both were almost in tears. Overall, he did really well though. He was a little more sleepy and fussy afterwards, but soon was back to his normal self and has been playing and kicking his arms and legs around as usual. We were excited to find out some of his measurements. He is now 12 lbs 2 ozs. (60th percentile compared to other kids his age), his head size is 15 1/2 cm (25th percentile), and length is 22 1/4 in. ( 25th percentile). He is on track with all of his developmental milestones and the doctor said it was very likely that he would hit some of the gross motor milestones early (rolling over, crawling, etc.) because he is such an active baby. He was wide awake and kicking his arms and legs the entire time during his examination and even gave his doctor a few smiles :)

Two month stats/accomplishments:

Sleeping 6-7 hours straight at night
Sleeping in his crib!
Wears 0-3 month clothing, he has grown out of all of his newborn clothes
Wears size 1 diapers
Eats 4-5 ounces on average every 3 hours during the day, sometimes its every 2-2 1/2 hours- we are still working on a schedule
Holds head up more consistently
Pulls head up when lying flat especially towards the bottle when about to eat
Tracks objects/people with his eyes
Loves his playgym and bats at the toys
Loves lights, music and ceiling fans
Smiles all the time
Makes more and more baby sounds
Crys a lot less now, but still has the loudest cry I have ever heard when he is hungry and the bottle isn't immediately ready :)

Guess where I slept last night...

in my crib!

Grant slept in his crib for the first time last night. Brandon and I have been super over protective and have kept him in the bassinet in our room until last night. We decided it was time to try the transition to the crib and felt more comfortable with it after we purchased a video monitor. We also have a movement monitor that will alarm if it doesn't detect movement/breathing for 20 seconds and a sound monitor. I know...it sounds really bad to say that we have so many types of monitors. Anyway, it went really well! Grant slept from around 11 until 5:30...that is 2 nights in a row of 6-7 hours straight of sleep! Brandon and I also slept really well...I only checked on him a couple of times when I first put him down...it was probably some of the best sleep that I have had since he has been born :) Hopefully tonight will go just as well!

First Time Sleeping Through the Night!

Grant slept through the night last night for the first time! We fed him at 10 and then he fell asleep right before 11. He slept until 6:15 this morning...that is over 7 hours of sleep! Brandon and I were both really excited! I fed him at 6:15 and he fell right back asleep and slept until about 7:45. He was so happy and all smiles when he woke back up this morning. I think he knew he had hit a milestone last night and had done something special:) We are hoping this will continue...I guess we will see what happens tonight.

Grant is still sleeping in the bassinet in our room, but I think we are going to try putting him in the crib tonight. We got a video monitor yesterday so we will both feel better about him sleeping in his crib. I'll update tomorrow on how it goes!

Oh No, The Big 3-0!

I'm still in denial that I am actually 30, but I guess I have to accept it. I turned 30 on June 27th and Brandon will turn 30 on July 27th. My family had a combo birthday party for us at my Grandmother's house on Saturday night. We had lots of fun (other than the turning 30 part)! We had dinner, cake, ice cream, presents and lots of fun playing with Grant and Hannah.

We were also entertained by Hannah dancing to "All the Single Ladies" and by trying to get Hannah and Grant to pose for their first photos together. I posted some of my favorite photos from the night.

Hannah is ready to party!

Grant napped during the beginning of the party. He was excited about the fun gifts from Aunt Kelli, Uncle Heath and Cousin Hannah from their trip to Sea World.

Grant had lots of smiles throughout the night :)

Here are our attempts at getting an 8 week old and 11 1/2 month old to take pictures together. They turned out pretty cute :)

Hannah likes to point at everything and say "What dat?"

Out to Eat...and AWAKE!

Ok, so you know how I just posted earlier that Grant sleeps as soon as we start riding anywhere in the car and that he sleeps the entire time that we are out...well that all changed tonight. Brandon, Grant and I went out to eat tonight. We have only been out to eat with Grant a few other times. We started riding in the car and I kept waiting for him to fall asleep, but instead he was looking around everywhere with his big, bright eyes. We got to the restaurant and he was still awake. Brandon and I were both nervous to go in because we have this terrible fear of him screaming in public. I know it will eventually happen, but we are trying to put it off as long as possible. We went into the restaurant and he was still wide awake, looking around everywhere and taking in this new surrounding. Thankfully there was no crying...he was a perfect little angel. He stayed awake for about 20 mins and then fell asleep. We had a really nice dinner :)

The Places I Go

Some of Grant's favorite places to go so far are Babies R Us, Target and La Fuente (our favorite mexican restaurant in Gastonia that we love to go to with the Powells and Grant's first place that he went out to eat) . We really haven't been getting out a ton during the day because it has been so hot. His first trip out, other than to the doctor, was to Babies R Us when he was about 3 weeks old. The first place I took him by myself was to Emily's for Hannah's one year old birthday party. Grant has been to the Gastonia mall with Mom and Aunt Mary Ellen and to Northlake Mall with Mom and Dad. He has also been to both of his grandparent's houses and to the Powells. Grant typically sleeps the entire time. There is something magical about his carseat and riding in the car. It doesn't matter how fussy Grant is...he is magically asleep by the time we leave the driveway and then he usually sleeps the entire time.

Baby Sounds

I love the sounds that Grant makes! Most of them sound like different animal sounds...he grunts like a little piggy and makes a hooting sound that is a combo between an owl and a monkey. They are both very cute! He makes some ooooh and aaaaah sounds occasionally, but mostly grunts or hoots. I really wish I knew what he was thinking and trying to say. He looks at me sometimes like, "Why can't you understand what I am saying, Mom?" I can't wait for his first word! I know I have a while to wait for that. The other sound he makes of course is crying...and he can really cry loudly! I am learning what his different crys mean and he is starting to cry less and less as he gets older :)
